Annulment of Article 370: Silent sit-in at Batamaloo Srinagar, Sep 26 (KNO): As the government claims that life is limping back to normalcy, the protests over the abrogation of Article 370 continued in Batamaloo area of Srinagar. Scores of people holding banners and placards assembled outside Hazrat Sheikh Dawood alias Batamaloo Sahab (RA) shrine today and observed a silent sit-in to protest against the move. The protesters including youth and old were seen holding banners reading slogans and messages to government. According to the wire service – Kashmir News Observer (KNO), they condemned the decision taken by the government on August 05, 2019. The government on the particular date annulled the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) and divided State into two Union Territories. Notably, the government had also imposed restrictions across Jammu and Kashmir, which were later lifted following the improvement in the situation. However, the spontaneous shutdown in Kashmir continued since then. The protesters meanwhile termed the abrogation of Article 370 as illegal and stated that such a move is against the aspirations of the people. “We have been crippled in our houses. The communication blackout is there, internet gag is there, curbs are being imposed frequently,” the protesters said. They added that “such measures are violation of human rights, which must be stopped forthwith.” (KNO)
